Yeun Elez — The peated Breton whisky, born from a legend of the Monts d’Arrée

In the Monts d’Arrée, at the heart of the Armorique Natural Park, lies a place that Bretons would approach only with caution: the Yeun Elez. This marshland, considered in Breton legends as the Gateway to Hell, is the place where, according to Anatole Le Braz, wicked souls were condemned to the underworld at sunset. It is this name — steeped in mystery and deep Breton identity — that we chose for our peated single malt Breton whisky.

“We are entering the Yeun Elez,” he said to Jobic. “Whatever you hear, do not turn your head. Your life in this world and your salvation in the next depend on it.” — Anatole Le Braz, La Légende de la mort en Basse-Bretagne, 1893.

Crafted from Scottish peated malt at 50 ppm, double distilled in pot still alembics, Yeun Elez is a Breton whisky of character — smoky, iodised, spiced, with a delicate and elegant aromatic complexity that reveals itself slowly. It meets the requirements of the Whisky Breton Geographical Indication: entirely brewed, fermented, distilled and aged in Brittany.
