The art of distilling, the Breton way: four exceptional areas of expertise
At Distillerie Warenghem, every spirit is the fruit of artisanal expertise passed down and perfected from generation to generation, for over a century. All our products are crafted on-site, in Lannion, in keeping with our traditions and our terroir.
Breton whisky: Armorik, a single malt rooted in our territory
Pioneers of Breton and French craft whisky since 1983, our single malt Armorik is crafted from French, Breton and organic barley. Double distilled in our traditional copper stills, it then ages in oak casks in our warehouses, cradled by the maritime climate of the north Breton coast. It is from this alliance between expertise and exceptional terroir that its unique aromatic profile is born: rich and fruity. All Whisky Breton meets the requirements of the Whisky Breton Geographical Indication: brewed, fermented, distilled and aged in Brittany.
Fine de Bretagne and Pommeau: the Breton cider spirit, guardian of a family heritage
Fine de Bretagne Leizour AOC is a cider spirit distilled from apples selected from our Breton AOC orchards, a few kilometres from the distillery. Our Fine de Bretagne Leizour pays tribute to Gilles Leizour, who introduced this expertise to the distillery, while personally cultivating the apples from the surrounding orchards. A beautiful story of transmission, as his daughter Anne Leizour-Roussier continues this work alongside him to master the subtleties of this craft. Fine de Bretagne has held an Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée since 2015.
Pommeau de Bretagne AOC, for its part, is the result of adding cider spirit to freshly pressed apple must. Known as mutage, this addition stops fermentation and stabilises the product before blending and casking. Our Pommeau de Bretagne is aged for a minimum of 12 months.
Chouchenn: Breton mead, emblem of a living heritage
Chouchenn is the legendary traditional drink of the Celts, deeply emblematic of Brittany. We use the spring water from beneath the distillery, honey and yeasts for fermentation to craft our “honey of the sea”, the Melmor Chouchenn.
Liqueurs: the founding expertise of the distillery, perpetuated since 1900
Founded in 1900, Distillerie Warenghem crafted the finest traditional liqueurs of the region and to this day, the distillery perpetuates this ancestral expertise. Crafted from plants or fruits, our Breton liqueurs reflect meticulous expertise combining tradition and creativity. Each recipe is the result of patient maceration and precise blending, delivering flavours that tell the story of our distillery.
The beers of Brasserie Warenghem
A master of the brewing craft, the distillery offers Lannion beers: brewed from French organic barley, lightly hopped and refreshing, they will win over all craft beer enthusiasts. Our beers are also enhanced by our other specialities: Breton whisky and Chouchenn.
